MDVI Program

In the History of Jammu and Kashmir first Time NAB J&K stated education and rehabilitation services for visually impaired with multi disabilities children in 2015 with the support of Perkins Voice and Vision India and Perkins international U.S.A The MDVI Home based program was established in 2015 to caters to the needs of the visually impaired children with additional disabilities. The children are being provided intervention services through a team of trained and dedicated educators as well as other professionals such as mobility Instructor, Physiotherapist. Individualised Educational Plan is prepared for each child after detailed assessment. Goals selected cover different areas and are commensurate with the child’s level. The children are taught various concepts as far as possible through real life experiences. Apart from the regular implementation of the individualised educational plan the children of the program are involved in various extra-curricular activities. Presently this project is run in two districts Srinagar and Baramulla J&K

Objective MDVI Program

  • To Create An Environment That Is Encouraging, Safe And, Clean, Healthy And Adaptive To Each and every MDVI Children Individual Needs.
  • To Conduct Functional and Clinical Assessment of the Children to Know the Strengths and Needs of MDVI children.
  • To Provide Need Based Intervention to these Children with MDVI
  • To Train Families for Understand the Needs Of Children With MDVI
  • To Provide Physiotherapy As Required
  • To Organize Sensitization And Awareness Programs

Activities

  • Review Meetings with the Parents of MDVI Children’s
  • On Quarterly Basis Review Meetings With The Parents Of MDVI Children Are Organized. Such Meetings Are A Platform For The Parents And The Staff To Share Their Experiences With The MDVI Children. This In Turn Helps to Improving The Quality Of Education Provided To The MDVI Children.
  • Need Based Intervention To Children With MDVI
  • Children With MDVI are Receiving Home Based Intervention In Different ways Such As Communication, Activities Of Daily Living, Social Skills And Cognition.
  • IEP of All Children with MDVI
  • After Functional and Clinical Assessment IEP are Prepared For each and every 20 Children With MDVI.
